National deputy for La Libertad Avanza, Mercedes Llano, presented a draft declaration today to express her “most energetic repudiation of the disinformation maneuvers detected in the country,” allegedly orchestrated by Russia to destabilize the government.
According to the Javier Milei administration, this “disinformation” network operates through the funding of “fake news and the creation of artificial journalistic profiles for the purpose of institutional destabilization.”
The initiative by the libertarian from Mendoza warns of “the existence of a sophisticated network of foreign interference that would have operated in Argentine territory in recent months, through the publication of false content in local digital media and the use of fictitious identities generated by artificial intelligence to influence public opinion.”
As a result of this complaint, the government decided to provisionally withdraw the accreditations from certain media outlets that daily cover the activities of the Casa Rosada.
In the draft's justification, to which the Argentine News Agency had access, Llano emphasizes that “these actions seek to erode trust in democratic institutions and distort public debate, attacking Argentina's informational sovereignty.”
“Abuses of freedom are fought with more freedom. This project seeks to exercise the right to institutional defense, refuting these destabilization maneuvers and reaffirming our commitment to truth and informational transparency,” stated the deputy.
Likewise, the legislator stressed the importance of “strengthening independent journalism” and warned about “the risks of a vulnerable media ecosystem, where dependence on official advertising can facilitate the penetration of external interests.”
